THE STORY: After Delia Ephron’s husband of more than thirty years passes away from cancer, Delia has to deal with logistical problems large and small--among them, cancelling her husband’s landline with Verizon. The frustrating experience becomes the basis of a New York Times op-ed, which in turn becomes the basis for a new relationship. Peter, a man she briefly dated in her twenties (and whom she doesn’t remember—whoops!) contacts her after reading her piece and wants to reconnect. Also a recent widower, he feels like their reconnection is bashert—a destiny they cannot deny has led them back to each other. In classic romantic comedy–style, emails become hours-long calls become cross-country flights to meet again, face-to-face, and succumb to the inevitable: a love that changes their lives. But when a shocking new challenge faces Delia, Peter urges her to embrace the totality of all that life has to offer—love, anger, happiness, freedom—even if it tests both her will and her commitment to their love.
