THE STORY: This version of Schnitzler's
Lorelei that caused a scandal when first produced in Vienna in 1895, focuses on how the sexual mores of a society are indicative of the whole social fabric.
Dalliance is a bitter sweet drama about a young working class girl who falls in love with a military officer. She alone has not learned that love is temporal and trivial, a mere series of dalliances.
“Tom Stoppard’s nimble wit has sewn sequins on the already glittering fabric of the original.” —London Sunday Telegraph.
“A gripping critique of masculine loyalties.” —The Listener.
